Bran Symondson was a serving soldier when he began documenting the Afghanistan war. He is now considered to be one of the finest reportage photographers working in the world and is well known for his one off installations of masterfully embellished AK47 guns with dollar bills, iconography & butterflies. Symondson was the winner of the 2011 Amnesty International Media Award and in 2012 his exhibition named “AKA Peace” for which Symondson asked artists such as Damien Hirst, Gavin Turk, Sam Taylor-Wood, Sarah Lucas, Gary Hume, Antony Gormley and the Chapman brothers to reinterpret AK-47 assault rifles was a complete sell out.
